Scientific Calculator
Sometimes you just need a calculator, no niche formulas, no forms, just fast math. And when homework or engineering work calls for sin, cos, logarithms, and factorials, your phone’s basic app gives up. So here I got this Free Advanced Scientific and Basic Calculator for you, two tabs in one tool, where quick arithmetic and full scientific functions live on the same screen with Instant Results.
How to Use This Scientific Calculator
- Pick your tab: Basic for everyday arithmetic or Scientific for the full function set.
- Click the buttons or just type on your keyboard, digits, operators, Enter for equals, Backspace to delete, Escape to clear.
- In Scientific mode, set D or R before using trigonometry, D treats angles as degrees, R as radians.
- Functions like sin, ln, and square root open a bracket for you; closing brackets are optional, the calculator auto-closes them at equals.
- Press = and your answer appears, ready to reuse with the Ans button.
What the Basic Tab Covers
- Core operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division with the standard order of operations.
- EXP, scientific notation entry, so 5 EXP 3 means 5 times 10 to the power 3.
- Plus/Minus, flip the sign of your expression instantly.
- RND, insert a random number for quick simulations and games.
- Memory Functions, M+ adds the current result to memory, M- subtracts it, MR recalls the stored value anytime.
- Back, AC and Ans, delete one step, clear everything, or pull your last answer into a new calculation.
What the Scientific Tab Adds
- Trigonometry, sin, cos, tan and the inverse functions sin-1, cos-1, tan-1, with the D/R toggle for Degree and Radian modes.
- Powers and Roots, x squared, x cubed, x to any power y, square root, cube root, and the y-th root of x.
- Exponentials and Logarithms, e to the x, 10 to the x, natural log (ln), and log base 10.
- Constants, pi and Euler's number e at one tap.
- More Tools, parentheses for grouping, 1/x reciprocal, percentage, and n! factorial.
Degrees vs Radians: Which Should You Pick?
Degrees (D) are the everyday unit, a right angle is 90, a full circle 360, and it is what school trigonometry problems use. Radians (R) are the mathematician's unit where a full circle is 2 pi, standard in calculus, physics, and programming. The toggle applies to both the trig functions and their inverses, so sin(90) in D mode gives exactly 1.
Worked Examples
- Trigonometry: sin(30) in Degree mode = 0.5, the classic exam check.
- Compound expression: (5 + 3) x 2 ^ 3 = 8 x 8 = 64, parentheses and powers respected.
- Factorial: 6! = 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 720.
- Logarithm: log(1000) = 3, since 10 cubed is 1000.
- Memory workflow: Calculate 250 x 4, press M+, clear, calculate 120 x 2, press M+, then MR shows 1240, your running total.
Why Use Our Scientific Calculator Online

- Runs in Your Browser, no download, no signup, your calculations never leave your device.
- Mobile Friendly, the button grid adapts to any screen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does sin(30) not give 0.5?
You are in Radian mode. Switch the toggle to D and sin(30) returns exactly 0.5. In R mode, 30 means 30 radians, a very different angle.
What does the EXP button do?
It enters scientific notation: 2 EXP 5 equals 2 x 10^5 = 200,000, handy for very large or very small numbers.
How do the memory buttons work?
M+ adds the current expression's value to a stored total, M- subtracts it, and MR types the stored value into your expression. Memory persists until you leave the page.
Can I calculate the y-th root of a number?
Yes. Enter the number, press the y root x button, then the root value. For example 32, root button, 5 gives the 5th root of 32 = 2.
Is there a limit on factorials?
Factorials work on whole numbers up to 170, beyond that the result exceeds what standard number formats can hold, and the calculator shows Error.
Is this calculator free?
Completely free, unlimited use, on any device.
